Zara Maria Larsson was born(on 16 December 1997) to Agnetha and Anders Larsson at Karolinska University Hospital in Solna, Stockholm. She stated in an interview with Svenska Dagbladet that she was born “dead” due to a lack of oxygen from the nuchal cord.
Larsson grew up in Tallkrogen, Enskede, which is located south of Stockholm. Her mother works as a nurse, and her father is a police officer. Hanna, her three-year-younger sister, is a singer and part of the band Lennix.
Carola Häggkvist and Whitney Houston were early influences for her. She has stated that she had aspired to be “immortal” like Elvis Presley since she was five years old.
Her initial primary school was Gubbängsskolan, then in third grade, she transferred to the Royal Swedish Ballet School. She attended Kulturama, a secondary art school in Stockholm.
