Xiaomi 12 Pro: Modern High-End Features, Launch Date, Specifications, Price

The Xiaomi 12 Pro not only has a fresh appearance, but it also has a completely new camera arrangement with three 50-megapixel sensors. There are also a slew of new high-end features. We’ll look at why there’s still space for improvement in this review.

Xiaomi 12 Pro Relies on Cutting-edge Technology

We’re testing an imported version of the top model from the high-end series because the Xiaomi 12 series isn’t yet available in Europe and Xiaomi is keeping us waiting. In every way, the Xiaomi 12 Pro relies on cutting-edge technology, and it comes in a variety of storage combinations.

Xiaomi 12 Pro

Users can select from 8 to 12 GB of RAM as well as 128 or 256 GB of internal storage. A microSD card cannot be used to expand the storage.

The camera arrangement, in particular, has seen some advancements over its predecessor. Xiaomi swapped over the Samsung primary sensor for a Sony one, while the ultra-wide-angle and telephoto sensors were replaced with Samsung 50-MP sensors. The smartphone is powered by Qualcomm’s brand-new Snapdragon 8 Gen. 1, making it one of the first handsets to feature the company’s top SoC. Similarly, the display offers increased brightness and improved adaptive refresh rate management.

Because the Xiaomi 12 Pro is the first flagship to be released in 2022, it competes mostly with devices from the previous year. The iPhone 13 Pro Max, Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra, and Oppo Find X3 Pro are among them. Even cheaper smartphones, such as the Motorola Edge 20 Pro or the Google Pixel 6, are comparable to Xiaomi’s new reference smartphone in terms of pricing.

Choose Between Glass and Faux Leather for Your Case

Xiaomi 12 ProThe Xiaomi 12 Pro comes in four different colour options. The glass backs for the black, blue, and pink models add one gramme to the weight of the green smartphone with the so-called vegan leather.

The green version, on the other hand, is 0.5 mm (0.02 in) thicker, for a total thickness of 8.66 mm (0.344 in). However, we measured a thickness of 9.1 mm (0.36 in), implying that Xiaomi is averaging the rounded-off edges.

The camera bump protrudes roughly 1.45 mm (0.06 in), while the main optics protrude another 1.05 mm (0.04 in). As a result, when the phone is set flat on a table, the left side of the 12 Pro is prone to wobbling, which is exacerbated by the supplied silicone bumper.

We are quite happy with the Xiaomi smartphone’s build quality. The clearances are uniform and precise. Although the haptics of the visually appealing imitation leather are reminiscent of plastic with softeners, the choice of materials seems upscale. The matte aluminium frame, on the other hand, appears to be even more attractive. The Xiaomi 12 Pro creaks and crackles a lot, and we expected greater resistance from the corners when we tried to twist it.

It’s regrettable that there isn’t an IP certification. Although the plastic SIM tray has a rubber seal, waterproof smartphones usually have a substantially thicker seal. Although the slot cover is flush with the frame, the colours do not completely match.

Android 12 With Miui 13 Is the Operating System

Ex-factory, the Xiaomi 12 Pro runs Android 12 and Xiaomi’s proprietary MiUI 13. Because our test device is the Chinese version of the smartphone, language options are severely limited, and most users in the Western Hemisphere will be obliged to choose English.

For the Xiaomi 12 Pro, Performance Is Provided by the Snapdragon 8 Gen. 1 Processor

The Xiaomi 12 Pro is the first smartphone to include Qualcomm’s top-of-the-line Snapdragon 8 Gen SoC, which will be available in 2022. Xiaomi pairs it with either 8 or 12 GB of LPDDR5 RAM, depending on the model. Our test model has 12 GB. The integrated graphics unit is the Adreno 730.

Gaming – Inadequate Cooling Detracts From the Gaming Experience

In theory, the Adreno 730 in the Xiaomi 12 Pro should be one of the most powerful graphics processors available in an Android smartphone. The performance of Vulkan in particular has vastly improved, and HFR gaminig should now be achievable without any restrictions.

Regrettably, our GameBench review of three titles reveals that the 12 Pro falls short of these benchmarks. While frame rates in PUBG Mobile at Ultra HD remain constant at 40 frames per second, lower quality settings with greater frame rates result in stuttering.

Conclusion

With a fantastic display, modern SoC, extended battery life, and a good triple camera, the Xiaomi 12 Pro is an amazing smartphone.

Furthermore, the smartphone’s appearance is incredibly appealing, the speakers generate excellent sound, the charging rate is lightning fast, and the 12 Pro’s geolocation precision is amazing.

The Xiaomi 12 Pro is currently available for buy from import stores like our lender TradingShenzhen, where it can be had for between $933 and $1050 USD. With the release of the international edition, local stores will be able to sell it, however at a higher price.
