Which are The Top 10 Hulu Series and Their Ratings?

top 10 hulu series

Hulu is more than just a place to watch shows the day after they air on network TV. The streaming platform has added more original content and put all of its bets on TV shows that tell stories that are both interesting and fun.

There’s something for everyone here, like dystopian science fiction, family drama, horror with a fantasy theme, etc., so there’s no reason not to add at least one of these shows to your watchlist.

Pam & Tommy

IMDb: 7.6/10 | 1 season, 8 episodes

This biopic tells the wild, true story of Pamela Anderson, Tommy Lee, and their news-making sex tape. Sebastian Stan and Lily James give it they’re all in this movie.

James works hard to show fans a different side of the Baywatch star. He does this by making her story more real and making the audience want her to win, even though bad men are trying to bring her down. Seth Rogen plays one of these jerks, a construction worker who was fired by Lee and wants revenge.

He breaks into the couple’s house and steals their sex tape so he can make money off of them when they are at their most vulnerable.

There’s some dark comedy and a lot of references to the 1990s, but James’ performance is what makes this show stand out. Okay, that’s fine, and so is the penis that talks.

Nine Perfect Strangers

IMDb: 7.4/10 | 1 season, 8 episodes

Nicole Kidman plays a wellness guru with an unclear accent in this mindf*ck of a drama-comedy about a group of rich and troubled people looking for enlightenment in the weirdest places. Masha, played by Nicole Kidman, is in charge.

She has a mysterious past and an even more confusing plan for the future of her psychedelic commune. She tries to help people with different mental and emotional problems, like a family who just lost their son, a woman who was scammed by an online predator, a couple that’s on the verge of breaking up, a divorcee with anger issues, and a former pro-football player who has a drug problem.

However, her main goal is to help the group as a whole. Everyone in this movie is great, from Melissa McCarthy to Bobby Cannavale to Michael Shannon.

High Fidelity

10 episodes in 1 season; 7.5/10 on IMDb

Zoe Kravitz produces and stars in this film which is different from Nick Hornby’s well-known 1995 novel. She plays a young record store owner who fights against the gentrification of her Brooklyn neighborhood while listening to indie hits that remind her of her failed relationships. The story feels like a calmer version of Fleabag by Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and the music is fire.

The Handmaid’s Tale

IMDb: 8.5/10 | 4 seasons, 45 episodes

Handmaid’s Tale is based on the same-named book by Margaret Atwood. It is set in a dystopian future where a fundamentalist government, now called Gilead, rules. Fertility rates have reached their lowest point, women have lost their rights, and men have turned them into wombs.

But this future is so close to the present that the women’s misery is made worse by the memories of their most recent pasts. They are forced to be submissive by electroshock and other forms of torture. Elizabeth Moss gives an amazing lead performance, but Yvonne Strahovski, Samira Wiley, Joseph Fiennes, and Alexis Bledel also do great work.

Bledel’s character tries to rebel against the dictatorial government and suffers terrible consequences. It’s a scary show that’s often so sad that it’s hard to watch, but the themes of The Handmaid’s Tale are very relevant right now, and the second season is even darker and more powerful.

The Great

2 seasons, 20 episodes | IMDb: 8.1/10

This period drama-comedy, starring Elle Fanning and Nicholas Hoult, takes a lot of inspiration from Yorgos Lanthimos’ Oscar-nominated movie The Favourite. Hoult has a lot of fun playing the Emperor of Russia, who happens to be a sadistic sociopath.

Fanning is his hopeful bride-to-be. She comes to the palace looking for love but ends up starting a coup and a plan to kill her new husband. It’s a fun show with crazy characters and too many meme-worthy lines to count.

IMDb: 8/10 | 1 season, 6 episodes

The mind behind sci-fi thrillers like “Ex Machina” and “Annihilation” has created another mind-bending drama for TV. Devs is about a young software engineer named Lily Chan who starts looking into a secret division of the cutting-edge tech company she works for in Silicon Valley because, get this, they probably killed her boyfriend.

Normal People

top 10 hulu series

12 episodes in 1 season; IMDb: 8.5/10

This drama is based on Sally Rooney’s best-selling book. It stars Daisy Edgar-Jones and Paul Mescal as two high school sweethearts whose lives are destined to be intertwined. Jones plays Marianne, an Irish girl from a wealthy family who has trouble making friends.

Mescal plays Connell, a popular jock type who is struggling with his problems. The two start a secret relationship in high school that lasts through college and after college. It takes them through some of the worst things that can happen in life and tests them in ways they never thought possible.

Castle Rock

top 10 hulu series

IMDb: 7.7/10 | 2 years, 20 episodes

Stephen King had a bit of a renaissance this year, at least on TV, but Castle Rock on Hulu felt like the most real and scary of all the adaptations from different streaming services.

The show, which stars Sissy Spacek, Andre Holland, and Bill Skarsgard, tells the story of Henry, a death row lawyer who is called home when a young man is found locked up under Shawshank prison. Henry also has a murky past that includes the unsolved murder of his father, which Henry doesn’t remember.

Weird things start to happen around town more often when The Kid (Skarsgard) is set free and has to figure out how he’s connected to Henry, his family, and the town’s history. It’s both great and scary, which is all you could want from a King adaptation.

The second run of the show is just as interesting, with Lizzy Caplan playing nurse Annie Wilkes before she was in Misery. She still caused trouble for the town of Castle Rock, even though she and her daughter, played by Elsie Fisher in Eighth Grade, tried to stay out of sight.

top 10 hulu series

IMDb: 7.9/10 | 2 seasons, 25 episodes

This comedy about two preteens going into the 7th grade is written, directed, and acted by Maya Erskine and Anna Konkle. The twist is that Erskine and Konkle, both actresses in their 30s, play middle-school-aged characters along with real 13-year-olds.

This takes their comedy about awkward firsts and embarrassing teenage mistakes to a whole new level. The show has a lot of funny moments, but it also talks about some real-life problems that don’t usually show up on TV.

2 seasons, 20 episodes | IMDb: 8.1/10

In this drama-comedy, comedian Ramy Youssef plays a character named Ramy Hassan, who is a version of himself. Ramy lives in New Jersey and is a part of both the millennial generation and the Muslim community. He tries to figure out how to be both.

He struggles with the limits of his religion and his upbringing while looking for meaning in more modern things like drinking, partying, and hooking up. It makes you feel good, opens your eyes, and doesn’t take itself too seriously.
