On February 16, the third section of The Upshaws made its debut, bringing back the well-known protagonist family and their working-class drama. Over the course of the past three years, The Upshaws has amassed quite a following among viewers.
The show became one of the few rare gems that followed the golden age of sitcoms in its formula once it debuted in 2021, making it one of the few years after the golden age of sitcoms.
Despite having a plot and writing that frequently fell flat, this trait became characteristic of the show and helped make it much more successful.
This changed significantly in the third part of the show, which was more subtle, more relatable, and heavily dealt with social and class commentary.
It also addresses some significant challenges that they face in their day-to-day lives, which makes the humorous aspects appear to be more subtle and frequently shocking.
The entire third season was a great upgrade in terms of many things. Yet, the ending was by far the most shocking and audacious of all of the things that were done.
The Upshaws Season 3 Ending: What Happened to Regina?
The final episode of the sitcom began with Regina’s (Kim Fields) upcoming choice to return to graduate school for her MBA, which she recently received an opportunity for.
Nevertheless, contrary to popular belief and the expectations of her family, Regina was not overjoyed with the opportunity.
Many significant occurrences occurred during the final episode of The Upshaws part 3. These featured Lucretia Turner (Wanda Sykes) breaking up with her long-term lover because she was not ready to leave her hometown yet, and Bernard Upshaw Jr. (Jermelle Simon) reconciling with Hector (Dewayne Perkins).
Despite this, Regina’s decision and gradual breakdown took center stage in the previous episode. Regina and Bernard “Bennie” Upshaw Sr. (Mike Epps) ended up having a difficult dispute after the former admitted that she was not ready to return to graduate school.
She was also enraged when she discovered Bennie had spoken with her employer.
The arrival of Lucretia, Aaliyah Upshaw (Khali Spraggins), and Maya Upshaw interrupted their conversation (Journey Christine).
Despite Bennie’s attempts to talk to her, Regina did not continue the debate and instead left with Lucretia.

Bennie awoke the next morning to discover Lucretia in the house. Regina, she stated, had not come home and will not return for the foreseeable future.
Her mental health suffered as a result of the continual stress of her family and the difficult decisions she had to make. She couldn’t properly describe her feelings to Bennie, but it appeared that she needed her time.
Consequently, according to Lucretia, Regina’s return to her family was not guaranteed. This was exacerbated by another event, which is only going to make matters worse for the marriage.
The third installment of The Upshaws ended with a knock on the door. Bennie assumed Regina had returned, but it turned out to be Tasha (Gabrielle Dennis) and Kelvin (Diamond Lyons).
Tasha explained that Kelvin wanted to live with his father and placed the teenager in Bennie’s care. This prompted Lucretia to declare that Regina would never return after this.

The Upshaws is a hilarious and modern representation of a dysfunctional but loving family unit. IMDB gives it a score of 6.9 out of 10, and Rotten Tomatoes and Common Sense Media give it a score of 3 out of 5.

The comedic timing is also great and the chemistry of the cast is a treat to see every episode. I was sold after the first episode and can’t wait to see season 2! This show has the awesome comedic vibe of some of the great sitcoms of the 90’s and 2000’s from shows like “Martin” and “Living Single”, to “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” and “The Jamie Foxx Show”.
