The Philadelphia Eagles have added a defensive tackle to their roster prior to the free commission, by signing former Cincinnati Bengals draft pick, Renell Reigns, According to his agent, Kenny Zuckerman.
Raine was drafted in 2019, in the fourth round, and played in 11 junior season games. He made eight tackles total that season and had two starts, as well as getting shots at various locations along the streak. Since then, however, he hasn’t had much in the way of production, suffering a thigh injury while training in December 2019, which landed him on IR, then Huge quadruple injury during training camp in 2020 Which kept him out of the whole season.
DT worked his way back from injury but ended up on the Bengals coaching staff in 2021, instead of their active roster. He was called up and played in only one game during the Cincinnati Surprise Energy He runs.
Michael Kist wrote about Wren in 2019 for Bleeding Green Nation:
“ArizonaRennell and Ren take care of the hiatus, which is great, but that’s it. Lots of plays he is in a position to get around. There is still enough to impress you as a reliable defender, if you are a fan of that sort of thing. I’m sort of, but mainly in the 3 day range.”
It’s no secret that Howie Roseman loves to build depth up front in attack and defense, and signing with Wren would do just that. Currently, the Eagles have three defensive tackles in their second year with the team (Milton Williams, Marlon Tuipoloto, Marvin Wilson), along with veterans Fletcher Cox and Javon Hargrave. Hassan Ridgway is an unrestricted free agent, and does not guarantee his return to Philly next season.
