Nancy Ruth Mace (born December 4, 1977) is a South Carolina politician who has served as the United States Representative for the 1st congressional district since 2021. Her district spans the majority of the state’s East Coast, from Charleston to Hilton Head Island.
Mace was the first woman to graduate from The Citadel’s Corps of Cadets program in 1999. She served in the South Carolina House of Representatives from 2018 to 2020, representing the 99th district, which included Hanahan, northeast Mount Pleasant, and Daniel Island. Mace is South Carolina’s first Republican woman elected to Congress.
