Kellie Pickler was born on June 28, 1986, in Albemarle, North Carolina, as Kellie Dawn Pickler.
Her mother, Cynthia, abandoned her two years after Kellie was born, and her father, Clyde Jr., was frequently imprisoned during Pickler’s upbringing, so she was raised by her grandparents, Faye and Clyde.
Cynthia reappeared in Kellie’s life and briefly took custody of her when she was 10 years old, but she was restored to her grandparents two years later.
Pickler went to North Stanly High School and was on the cheerleading squad. She graduated in 2004 and performed “On the Side of Angels” by LeAnn Rimes at the ceremony.
