How I Met Your Father Season 2 Episode6 and 7 Ending

How I Met Your Father Season 2 Episode 6 Ending: Do Sophie and Oscar Break Up?

Sophie and Oscar do break up. Sophie learns about Oscar’s diamond necklace only after spending the day with him. When she discovers its connection to Oscar’s late mother, she begins to consider breaking up with him and asks Ellen(Tien Tran) to discuss it with Dr. Dominguez, who informs her patient that the foundation of the desire to break up is the self-sabotaging nature.

Sophie has broken up with a number of her partners for reasons that do not necessitate the end of their relationships. It is her self-destructive nature that causes her to fixate on the necklace and consider it a significant enough reason to break up with Oscar.

Sophie could have talked to Oscar about her unease at seeing the necklace on him instead of considering breaking up with him. Her lack of communication can be attributed to her self-destructive nature. Oscar saves their relationship by deciding to remove the necklace without Sophie’s request.

Sophie’s lack of communication, however, has an impact on their relationship. Sophie(Hilary Duff) notices that Oscar isn’t sexually satisfying her when he’s not wearing the necklace. Because she expects more from him in bed, she should have communicated this to Oscar, making it clear what her needs are so that he can try to meet them.

Instead, Sophie requests that Oscar wear the necklace again in order to improve sexually. Oscar regards the same as problematic and ends their relationship. Sophie loses control of her relationship yet again because she fails to communicate effectively.

How I Met Your Father Season 2 Episode6 and 7 Ending

How I Met Your Father Season 2 Episode 7 Ending: Is Ian the Father?

The near future Sophie narrates the events of the day she spent with her friends to her son in 2050, talking about their miserable Valentine’s Day experiences so that he will understand how the day remained special even after such experiences.

While a montage of Drew, Charlie, Sid, Jesse(Christopher Lowell), and Ian expressing their love for the day appears in the background, she tells her son that love is different and more beautiful on Valentine’s Day and asks him to ask his father about it if he has any doubts. Sophie’s son asks if he “missed anything” because his father isn’t mentioned in the story she just told him.

Because Ian is the only one who appears in the montage but not in Sophie’s story about a bad Valentine’s Day, viewers must be wondering if he is her son’s father. Since the first episode of the series, Ian has been considered a strong contender to be Sophie’s “The One.”

Despite the fact that their relationship is only a few days old, he has managed to become a pleasant presence in her life. He even returns for Sophie after going to Australia in the hopes of meeting her.

Although she must decide against it, they part ways on good terms, demonstrating that their future union is not impossible. Furthermore, she meets him on the day Sid and Hannah get engaged, which is also the day Sophie meets her son’s father.

Having said that, there is no guarantee that Ian is the father of her child. Because he isn’t a part of Sophie’s story, Ian becomes the possible father of her son. Similarly, several other men she meets on the day of Sid and Hannah’s engagement party aren’t mentioned in her story.

Ian’s appearance in the montage could be a ruse devised by the show’s writers to confuse viewers about the identity of “the father.” Sophie may have met someone who became the “father” she hasn’t yet mentioned on the day Sid and Hannah get engaged. If that’s the case, it’s not surprising that he’s absent from Sophie’s story and the montage.
