For fashion fans, Paris Couture Fashion Week is like a delectable dessert – we savour every moment and can’t get enough. While the spring 2023 fashion week hasn’t been without turmoil, Dior’s catwalk delivered both glam and a striking statement — and thankfully, Chriselle Lim, influencer, creator, and creative director of Phlur, provided us with exclusive behind-the-scenes access.
This collection was “inspired in especially by Joséphine Baker, the African-American singer and dancer who left the United States in the mid-1920s for a multi-creative Paris,” according to a press release from the design house.
That translated into “delicate pieces, emblematic of Dior’s exceptional savoir-faire,” according to Creative Director Maria Grazia Chiuri, which were presented in “a scenographic narrative — specially envisioned by artist Mickalene Thomas — composed of giant portraits of extraordinary personalities symbolising a new pantheon of women.”
Naturally, Lim, who has been associated with the company for many years, wasn’t going to a show in just any old dress. She took us behind the scenes as she prepared, telling us about her day and which outfits she planned to wear from Dior’s Spring 2023 Couture line.

“I wore a look from Dior’s 2023 Cruise show, which was held in Seville, Spain. This collection is inspired by Spanish chivalry and the fiesta spirit.
I adore the lovely stitching and the black and white embellishments. I wore the black silk shirt open, paired with an elegantly detailed vest and trousers.”

“I began with skin care by using Le Serum to keep my skin looking young. We used all Dior products, including the Forever Natural Nude foundation in shade 1N, on very clean skin. It provides a mellow glow with medium coverage.”
“I also used their Lip Maximizer in colour D12 to add a pop of colour to my lips. We chose a softer, traditional look with huge curls for a really fitted, glam vibe.”
